    Microsoft getting a little greedy

    Analysts report that Microsoft may begin to compel its larger customers to pay every three years to continue to use its software, a departure from its perpetual licensing policies currently in use. Under the new plan, companies would have to pay again at the end of each three-year enterprise agreement in order to renew their license. However, there are no reports that Microsoft is considering changing its smaller customers' open and select agreements.

    Now thats just getting a little way too greedy

    I was not surprised
    Use
    writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
    writing haskell makes your life easier:
    reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
    To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

    But since XP reports back to Microsoft using your Modem it is going to tell them "Pirate at Number ##, ### Street, Credit card number ##### #### #### ####, favorite download site ####, underware colour ### etc etc . . ."

    So the great Microsoft worry is people who don't upgrade - the licensing scheme should fix them though

    I'm betting it will move to annual licensing after the first three years - once companies have got used to the idea and recurring billing.

    What if you don't have a modem? Besides, if they take that information without your consent they are breaking the law, so they'd have to put it in the EULA. I for one don't want to give those kinds of details out to anyone, and least of all Microsoft.

    You mean you don't want them to learn your underwear colour?
