    Resolved [RESOLVED] Unresolved button

Is there an unresolved button? Or did I miss it somewhere along the line? The kind of button that allows the thread starter to unresolve a resolved thread. I did a search and saw that some threads did have UNRESOLVED in the titles. So is it still here on this forum?

Thread started can simply edit the thread title.

Oh well there you go. I was wondering why some of them were uppercase and some were lowercase. Now I know. Thanks Brad.

Hang on a minute. I must be doing something wrong. I edited the title but it didn't show up in the main page. It only showed up in the actual thread as a post. Is there something else I should be doing?

I believe there is a permissions issue or bug. I think PowerPosters can edit the first post title and it updates both the thread title and post title. If others do it it only is the post title and not the thread title.

I see this on some other vB boards too so Im inclined to think its a bug or incorrectly setup perrmissions usergroup.

No. When I change a thread's title via Edit|Go Advanced on the 1st post it only affects the 1st post.

Well we are mod staff. A Thread title and a first post title are not the same field in the database. This has to be tested under a non-power poster / non-mod staff account.

Yes, that is correct! I changed the title of one of my threads yesterday. It changes the thread title but leave any replies already in the thread before the change with te old title.
when you quote a post could you please do it via the "Reply With Quote" button or if it multiple post click the "''+" button then "Reply With Quote" button.
If this thread is finished with please mark it "Resolved" by selecting "Mark thread resolved" from the "Thread tools" drop-down menu.

    Re: Unresolved button

Martin as requested, I changed the title of the first post in the following thread (simply moved the word [Resolved] from the beginning of the title to the end). The change did not affect any other posts/replies

If you still need some tests done, I can probably help out.

This is correct. It does not update all posts with new titles. Should only be updating the first post's title and thread title.

Look at this thread and seems it is acting correctly.

You were saying that the first post's title was not reflecting in the forum view's thread title?

You were saying that the first post's title was not reflecting in the forum view's thread title?
My objective was to find a way to change the threads title from Resolved to Unresolved. For threads that I had prematurely used the "Mark Thread Resolved" link on. So, I don't think it is correct unless I'm mistaken. In post #3 of this thread it says...

    Re: [Resolved] Unresolved button

But this title is not shown in any of the other posts on this thread or on the main page of this forum (http://www.vbforums.com/index.php).

I hope that helps, let me know if it doesn't.

    Re: Unresolved button

I should point out that I was editing the title after I clicked on the "Post Reply" button. So now I'll try and edit the title using the "Edit" button in my first post.

    Re: TEST Unresolved button

Looks like its working correctly. First posts title and thread title are changed to start with "Test". Any new posts after your edit will contain the new title (this post will show it).

You're right RobDog888. So the correct answer is to always use the Edit button > Go Advanced in the very first post of a thread and then change the title?

At Marty's request I altered one of my thread's Subject lines to

"[Mostly Serious] New computer - suggestions please"

However all of the posts after the OP remained as they were.
I don't live here any more.

That would be a General PC question.

What if the question needs a serious answer but has nothing to do with computers?

Generally GenDev if it is loosely related to programming or IT. Although to be honest if a thread is serious enough I think it is mostly respected in CC.
