A lot of times these problems are caused by errors from within the object's code itself. The older version of MSChart (before vb6 SP3 I think) used to do weird things like that for me, plus leak memory like sieve.
Outlook 2000 is kind of a pain anyway. There are some Outlook 2000 error discussions on MSDN. Have you checked there yet?

Thanks for the advice... Unfortunately I've already got SR1, so it's not that. I couldn't track down the error discussions you mentioned on MSDN (I don't find it terribly easy to navigate ) - is there any chance you could put up a URL for me?
