Hi,
John, I run the standard perl version of UBB and I was wondering, did you code the PHP version yourself?
It's a great improvement on the perl version, and no doubt it is easier on the server resources.
With PHP being a relatively new language, I haven't taken the time to learn it yet, (it's based on C syntax isn't it?) but I was wondering how/if I could get my hands on your PHP version?
If you did code it yourself, why don't you go the whole hog and re-design the front end? That way you could sell it on to willingly paying customers such as myself!
Many thanks,
Doug

We will be releasing the PHP code in some shape or form... I'm not excatly sure when or how yet. We were hoping to do it through Infopop, but they have been dragging their feet. We'll just have to see what happens.
I would really recommend learing PHP. It is soooo easy to learn and very powerful.

InfoPop Release
Hi John,
I tried to put in a good word for you with Ted at InfoPop (I hope you don't mind) but I wouldn't hold your breath.
At the moment, Ted is trying to persuade people that his hosted OpenTopic UBB is the best option. This mean that they are unlikely to release your PHP code, as it already offers most of the benefits of OpenTopic.
As long as you have re-coded it all yourself and you re-design the front end, there "should" be no problems with copyright issues if you try to sell the code yourself. Perhaps some legal advice is in order ?
I hope you do get to release the PHP version, as it will be a valuable tool.
Doug
