    Silverlight 2

What? Damnit, I spent all that money training my staff to use Silverlight 1, all for nothing.

I'll have to fire them all now and start over.
I don't live here any more.

Just replace them with cheap contractors. I'm sure you will find some that already have 5+ years "experience" using SL2.

Practically instantly after they announced Silverlight 1 they talked about 2 stating it would have deeper CLR integration with expanded abilities to use .Net languages. This is your own fault you damn cat.

Yes Microsoft makes the appropriate plugins for IE, Firefox, and Safari (Windows and Mac) and an open source group has Moonlight as a replacement which works under Linux.

So, what does silverlight actually do that you can't do already?

All it seems like is an Adobe clone - basically a sandbox for web applications to play in? If not, what makes it especially better than Adobe?

You can use your existing knowledge of .NET languages to create Silverlight apps, as opposed to having to learn ActionScript.

ActionScript sucks anyway. It's like a cross between Java and JavaScript.

It gives you far more local storage by default per website (1mb vs Flash's 100kb)

It gives you far better object oriented programming support (true object oriented languages vs ActionScript 3)

It has far better development tools.

It has far less costly licensing fees for streaming video.
