Knuckle cracking causes Arthritis?
My friend said his friend got light arthritis from cracking his knuckles, but I asked a doctor and he said that saying that is just to stop people from making a disgusting sound.
How many people actually know that arthritis can be caused from cracking knuckles (and necks and wrists etc...)?
Also, how many people can crack all of them in one go?

my sister is a medical transcriptionist and she told me the same thing. you can't get arthritis from cracking your knuckles, or what ever. and yes it is a disgusting sound if you think about it. I can't by the way crack all my knuckles in one shot. I had a friend in high school that could and his knuckles were all huge from doing it so often, so I don't know.

I can't do all mine in one go either, in fact, when I 'interlock' my fingers and push away (you know what I mean) there is only about 2 or 3 cracks, but then again, I only do it about once, sometimes twice a week. Apparently it's a real turn-off, I suppose it would be.

Interesting trivia :
The village folks in our part of our country have a habit
of knuckle cracking to ward of the evil eye ! and they do it
by pressing both their palm on their head{temple} resulting
in a simultaneous cracks in one go !

I can only do my knuckles, wrists and neck. I don't really want to do it too often in case my hand falls off or something.
It makes a rather, ummmm, unpleasant sound unless you are trying to look tough. Cracking your jaw back into place after a good punch would certainly scare me off.

I don't think so. I don't think it does them the world of good, but probably not arthritis. Or Rhuematism.

I crack my knucles several times a day. My neck, several times an hour. My torso, back, toes and wrists daily. I thinks this all stems from breakdancing. Bugger.

I crack a few tins of beer in the evening, but not much else. I have enough creaks and groans in my body already.

I wonder who came up with the saying "Don't crack your knuckles, it'll give you arthritis." It's all around the globe now and yet people now actually KNOW it causes arthritis, just like how so many years ago, people KNEW that the world was flat, well, maybe not like that but you see my point.

mmm crack
I like doing crack..... mmmmm
I can crack my knuckles and my knees..sometimes my back...
I teacher i had in high school was telling the class i was in about this guy that she knew..he would crack his neck everyday at dinnertime with the family in plain view of it..and one night he cracked his neck and then he said "ow..i think i hurt myself.." then he slummped over and died..
i really trip out on you people who can crack ( almost ) every part of your body ( jamagei i am looking at you ) dont you worry that you might crack something a little too hard or the wrong way and you break it?

Ha, that guy who died must have been a real crack-up! That's definately not the way to get ahead in life. He must've been high at the time, the poor old crack-head.
Well seriously, if he did actually die lets all take 2 minutes silence.

Or better yet, lets just drink to his memory or something. And I'll carry on listening to my grindcore.

Only when i do my neck and my back, and it is especially loud that can be kinda scary. But as for the rest, nah they don't bother me at all.
P.s Anyone like my new avatar, I did it myself. In company time. Only took me about 30 mins in paint.
