SAMBA Domain Controller

I have been trying to setup SAMBA as a domain controller for several days now. I have been using tutorials online, but it seems that all of them lack something.

SAMBA is working, in windows i can "connect" to my domain, but when i put in a username that is in the system, it says the username or password is incorrect.

Any help here?

I thought SAMBA was just a network protocol like SMB, so if that is the case then what do you mean by "setup SAMBA as a domain controller" ?

I decided that i am not going to use Ubuntu, as i am not familiar with it.
