can condoms fix computers?
Even though I am beating my head against a wall trying to get a computer mobo working that I am nearly convinced is just a POS (based on the number of others having identical issues on the web)
I did find this rather funny...
1. Please clear CMOS.
2. Please take out your memory cards and video card, try to clean their golden connectors with a rubber, then reseat them back.

I didn't even know that there is gold hidden in my computer

Since they mean eraser, it's an ancient trick, as I was doing that over a decade ago. It never actually worked, though.

Presumably no more ancient than the art of electronics. The Pharaohs of the First Dynasty presumably didn't know that trick.

Re: can condoms fix computers?
When I was a cell phone tech, we used to fix lots of peoples intermittent power issues with an eraser on the battery contacts. It worked.. sometimes.

I believe there are some hieroglyphics that show someone cleaning the connectors with a rubber but you had to follow the previous two walls of hieroglyphics that described how to build semiconductors, video display monitors and develop software before you would even have connections to clean. Remember that all of this information was given to the Egyptians by aliens.

Erasers always worked on my old slot car race tracks.

What, you race them? A conundrum!! They are both stationery and not stationary at the same time.
I don't live here any more.

Steel wool always caught fire when applied to my old HO scale train set (when the power was on). That was cool!

I did get the mobo working, after asking it very nicely to boot while at the same time threatening to rip it out of the case and throw it in the garbage. Apparently playing good cop/bad cop with only 1 person is the only way to get this particlar mobo working..

You need to do this if you want to practice safe internet surfing.

Yeah, they can be stupid that way. Had you upgraded the sound card, you might have needed a second person, though.

Good times. I often burn steel wool just for the hell of it.
