Gaza
Any thoughts on current events in Gaza? Can anything be done to halt the seemingly neverending tide of bloodshed in the region?
I'm sure we'd be particularly interested to hear from members currently in Israel or Palestine...

Re: Gaza
The trouble is that neither side really seems to want a solution. Every time there's anything aproaching a peace in the region one or other side (usually both) break out the poking stick and start prodding the other until they have no choice but to retaliate. If the Palestinians aren't firing rockets the Israelis are blocking vital supplies from entering the country.
I guess the problem is that there are powerful parties on both sides who have a vested interest in keeping the conflict alive. If Palestine reaches a true peace with Isreal then Hamas have no more reason to exist and 'a strong hand against terrorism' is a nice easy political sell for Israeli politicians.

And all other politicians, as well.
That part of the world has never known peace as far back as recorded history goes. End this conflict, and another will spring up right away.

Who cares, it's only a few million people. Just because they sit on holy land all the religious freaks are care.

When a few million people die fighting over whose imaginary friend is real, we should all be outraged by the sheer lunacy.
