Xbox on deathbed?
The last 4 times I've played GTA4 (single player mode) the game has hung while I was driving around.
My XBox 360 is about 15 months old now. Am I going to suffer an xbox-less yule? It's not RRoDing or anything, the game just halts with no sound.
I figured it may be a dirty disc so I installed it to HDD and I still get the hangs.
What am I to do?
I don't live here any more.

Re: Xbox on deathbed?
Discard your xbox and get GTA4 for the PC through Steam (to avoid the BS DRM)

GTA4 for PC FTL.
Get a PS3 instead. <Insert random macho statement about the PS3 here>
I was just kidding about the PS3 part, although you won't have to suffer that intolerable RROD or any of those console problems thanks to Microsoft rushing out their console early. And on the plus side, you can install Fedora on the PS3 (not like in hacking the console, the PS3 actually allows it).
The reason why I dislike the game so much on the PC (and hence I hate it in general) is that there is two pieces of useless crap to install onto your PC which is mandatory to keep on while gaming: Games for Windows Live and Rockstar's Social Club. Both needed for online multiplayer and video editing uploads respectively. And that's just the small problem. The DRM I can understand tbh because piracy is an obvious issue. What I can't understand is that the PCs out there that can play Crysis fine are struggling to play GTA IV properly. You will get low framerates unless you spend well over £1000 on your PC - and that's not the graphics card alone. Seriously, the processor will probably need an upgrade too. It's ridiculous that a company that started the franchise's life on the PC has (IMO) ended it so badly on the same platform. Not to mention the damn game was so overhyped by Rockstar and their fanboys that it was (IMHO) sub-par than the previous GTA3 series. I should've known things were going downhill when I saw San Andreas and it's god-awful storyline. Great features and action, but god, did the script get beaten with the stupidity stick. GTA4's story is tolerable, but the features isn't, especially as it's supposed to be the sucessor to San Andreas.
However, you may want to keep that dying xbox just for the latest DLC from Rockstar if you really want it. It'll be released in Feb, so you got time to recover Schrödinger's console.

If you have played all the MGS games, definitely play on the 4th one. It's seriously worth considering, even if you haven't played the previous ones (but you'll be so confused about the storyline).

Poor, poor fool.
Why don't you try getting those monochrome-type tetris handheld games. At least it will be less hassle trying to start it up.

I think I read that if you buy it from Steam you also get Vice City too. I might ask my dad to buy it for me.

Re: Xbox on deathbed?
GTA4 isnt worth playing on any console. End of discussion
But in all seriousness, I would go onto www.xbox.com and register your console, you should have a tiny bit of warranty left if you hurry up and register it for repairs there. I sent my Xbox for repairs for just that thing this november, it was actually a positive experience even if that sounds strange. It was back in my possession after only 1 week, even though the repaircenter is down in germany. I got a nice note with apologies etc etc and a free xbox live gold card in the package when it returned. They're fast AND polite

Wossy wouldn't believe that. He's foolish to believe San Andreas was and is the best GTA game ever...

The Atari Jaguar port of Doom was the greatest game of all time and anyone who doesn't agree can go to hell.

But Doom for the Atari Jaguar isn't the best GTA game, is it?
On second thought, I'd rather not know.
EDIT: FYI, This is close to being the best port of Doom. Now if only you could configure the controls and use the mouse...

Nope. You don't shoot with guns. You shoot boogers. And you fart.
If you find that stuff offensive, you'd probably hate it, otherwise it is quite enjoyable.

Are you discussing the game, or are those your observations on your life?

I had a go playing Alone in the Dark demo on the PS3. I had to control the guy's blinking by pressing the Right analog stick.
Enough said.

Re: Xbox on deathbed?
Even though I said that I hate F3 with a passion and I haven't played anything in 3 days on account of not having an XBox any more I think my in-game addiction to Rad-X is seeping into real life.
The guy in the game shop won't trade my 30 pounds of scrap metal for a new console. I chopped off his arms and legs. Sadly he didn't have any 5.56 ammo on him. You win some you lose some. My old XBox did not contain a Fission Battery, is this a bug?
I don't live here any more.
