[RESOLVED] Mark Thread Resolved message button
A lot of the time i am seeing members have to tell the OP to mark thread resolved, and most people dont know how, or where to do it.
I think it would be nice to have a button in the Reply Tool bar that added a resolve thread link, like this:
Mark Thread Resolved
Mark Thread Resolved
Where THREADID would be added in by the script.

Re: Mark Thread Resolved message button
Do you mean a button such as the "quote" button on each thread post? Obviously, the "resolved" button would only be visable the the thread starter nd possibly staff. Is that what you mean? I reckon it would be a good idea if possible.
The "Thread Tools" menu is a bit hard to see up the top of the thread. I don't think many people pay attention to it anyway.
when you quote a post could you please do it via the "Reply With Quote" button or if it multiple post click the "''+" button then "Reply With Quote" button.
If this thread is finished with please mark it "Resolved" by selecting "Mark thread resolved" from the "Thread tools" drop-down menu.

Re: Mark Thread Resolved message button
Well the Resolve thread link is visible by everyone, and anyone can click on it, but it only works for the OP. what i am saying, is have a button in the Reply tool bar that will put a canned message (per say) with the resolve thread link in it.

Ah, so anyone can resolve the thread? However, some people would abuse the system.

Re: Mark Thread Resolved message button
The link is visible to all but only the Thread Starter can resolve the thread.
I had made a Resolve button in the past but it was determined too much to add it to the template etc.
Too much customization of the templates creates bg headaces for upgrades asa each upgrade requires you to re-edit the templates and re-apply the code mods etc.

yeah i figured it would be a problem when it came to updates.
It seems like vB would make it easier to customize the template and what not without the worry of doing it every update.

Re: Mark Thread Resolved message button
One way is to write plugins for vB instead of modifying template code directly. Thats what I do and my sites are all original templates with plugins modifying the presentation and functionality.

Re: Mark Thread Resolved message button
Well for one, there are numerous manual template edits so to dynamically modify the template wouldnt really be possible. If VBF had their templates reverted back to original and then wrote plugins for all modifications then sure it would be easy.

Re: [RESOLVED] Mark Thread Resolved message button
Yea but its not that its done wrong, just that the site has grown so large that manual edits are no longer a manageable task when you have to upgrade the forums software.
