[serious] I have an interview today

So... I've currently got a nice programming job. C# and ASP.NET, and I do like it... but it's looking like a dead-end job that just won't go anywhere. I'm on vacation right now, and a good friend of mine out here said the company he works for is looking for C#/ASP.NET developers... I almost jokingly asked if they'd consider me, and here I am, mentally preparing for the interview. If they're more interested in the technical side of the job, then it should be a breeze... but I really don't know what to expect. They normally want a resume sent in beforehand, but they're willing to let my current lack of one slide, which surprises me. So... wish me luck, as I see if I can move up a little further in the programming world!

    All the best, dude.

Show them your portfolio of LOLcat images.

    Seriously though, best of luck.

    Good Luck!

You should do well I believe; I mean some people are still able to get the job with just the sheer display of potential even if their resume lacks it. (ahem)

Well, it did go a lot better than I expected. I was incredibly impressed with their location and their software, and they seemed equally impressed with my enthusiasm and willingness to move halfway across the country if it works out. Now I just need to write up my resume and send it in, then they'll probably give me a call and ask me to come in again. Let's just say I've got high hopes for this possibility

Wishing you all the best not just luck!
The thumb rule is "Be confident!"

But you should have a "deep" shower, shaving, etc...
Tell them "You have disturbed my vacation. You should call me after New Year celebration. But ..."

Usually it is good to show as much as possible of your talents and qualifications, but in some cases an interviewer will not consider whoever has better skill than him (to protect himself if he is not the owner of the company).

Eh! I will make a move next Monday as well when I will submit a resignation form.
I was offered a new job without interview nor resume with similar role in a bigger international company and to be requested to start ASAP with 30% more money than the current job.

Do you think, during this current world financial crisis, I should take a risk to leave my current "good pay" job of 9 years (with one more year I will have 2 months of long service leave)?

Shame I didn't get to see this yesterday so missed wishing you good luck but good luck for the next stage.

Put some effort into your resume, it's always tempting to bang something out that's little more than a list of qualifications but it makes a huge difference if you put in some effort.

I was about to ask the same thing.

I'm currently updating my resume and was advised to be specific about what tools/languages etc. you have used and list any major obstacles you overcame.

I have an interview with these guys next Wednesday at 8 am.

Best of luck, homer. There are places hiring. The company I am contracting with hired two database administrators.

Waterloo, Iowa. Certainly isn't the most tech-oriented place, but this job may be my lucky break in getting back to where I'm most comfortable being.

Nope. I grew up here, my friends are here, and it just feels like my life is here. I've had more fun these past couple days than I've had in two years in Massachusetts.
