Still awaiting a fix from the backbone connection provider.
Thursday, December 18, 2008, 8:50 a.m., Pacific time
Unfortunately, we are still waiting for a fix from the backbone connection provider. Connections continue to be slow or time out.
Thursday, December 18, 2008, 7:40 a.m., Pacific time
As it turns out this is not a router hardware issue, but rather a problem with one of our backbone connection providers. Shortly after 7 a.m. Pacific time we disabled the connection that was causing problems, but in doing so we lost half the bandwidth available to the data center, so you may still experience slow loads and time-outs, as this is typically our busiest time for the U.S. data center. Administrators are working with the provider to remedy the issue, but currently we are afraid that we have no ETA for a fix.
Thursday, December 18, 2008, 4:45 a.m., Pacific time
We are experiencing dropped packets at one of our routers that is causing latency or timeouts on connections to our Los Angeles data center for many users. System administrators are working on the issue at this time and should have normal operations resumed as soon as possible.

My day has been trying to pinpoint an issue regarding Lucene (if anyone is familiar with it)
I'm not and somehow it's just causing a problem that is causing a mature enterprise application to just die.
so sad. Might do some experimentation on it (since i'm obsessive compulsive about solving programming problems that escapes me... well most of the times that is)

I am quite meticulous with my washing dishes that it takes me 30 minutes for one load. That's about 10-12 dishes, 15 or so spoon and forks, 5 or so cups and glasses, 3-5 pots and pans.

My dishwasher refuses to let me clean any dishes myself. I put them in there, turn it on, and the greedy thing cleans them all by itself...

I do my own chinese/asian cooking. So it was either one but not both. Of course I am partial to rice.

Re: this has been my day
I do all my own cooking so long as it cooks in a microwave. The closest I get to actually making food is when I stand next to someone else that is making food.
although to pick between noodles or rice, when it comes to asian food, I also would pick rice....

My day: Up at 2 with a raging fever that kept me in fever dreams until I finally got up around 7. In to the office by 9, brief presentation while floating in a feverish daze. Back home by 11. Asleep on the couch for most of the afternoon. Now, still in a feverish daze, but not particularly tired, so a few games.

My day: Here's a bonus check for a lot of money. Oh, and why don't you let the company buy you lunch. Oh, and here is some side work for a friend of the CEO, which pays more than the company pays you. Oh, and you can take the rest of the year off. I'm somewhat happy with my current place of occupation.

In that case you're welcome wash mine any time you like. Consider it a favour from me to you. No need to thank me.
I've got a dishwasher but it's total rubbish. It never actually seems to clean anything properly and just leave dired on baked bean juice on all my wine glasses.

Dude, you aren't supposed to use wine glasses for baked beans. Don't you have a bloody CLUE about ettiquet? Shot glasses are the proper utensil.

If the beans were really baked, perhaps he was just extracting wine from them.
