    Resolved [RESOLVED] Help File Creation

It's been awhile since I've written a help file for my apps but I find the need once again. 10-12 years ago there were free programs out there to generate help files but a google search today returned nothing of the free sort. Does anyone know of a decent free help file generator/creator/writer out there these days? If not I can always create a pdf ... but it would be nice to have integrated contextual and general help.

    TIA,
    Ken

Thanks guys ... I don't mind spending $10 for helpscribble if I think it'll do what I want. On the other hand HelpMaker is free and if that works ...

    Thanks again,
    Ken

    Re: [RESOLVED] Help File Creation

I may be hijacking a thread here, but it might help SparrowHawk7 and myself.

I just made a help file using a text editor and MS's 'HTML Help Workshop'.
It works fine on XP, but a friend tried it on Vista and had a problem.
    Here's what he wrote:

"it finds the chm file and while it shows me the Contents page the right-hand side says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" and "What you can try: Retype the address.""

I've been searching the web and the only thing I've found so far is a mention that some chm's may not work if the user has IE7.
But it doesn't give a fix

I'm on IE6 and don't want to upgrade now.

    Any ideas?
