Atmel AVR
I have decided to enter the world of microcontrollers. I ordered a couple Atmel AVR series microcontrollers to play with. I wanted to order an LCD display as well, but I wasn't sure what to get.
I am not sure what these really mean, but these are the categories I have to choose from:
- 4 Bit, 8 Bit Data Bus
- 4 Bit, 8 Bit, Serial SPI
- 4 Bit, 8 Bit, SPI 4-wire
- Parallel
- Serial
I recognize the last 2, but I am not sure which of those would be the one to get.
The microcontroller that I would want to hook an LCD up to is an Atmega168.

Re: Atmel AVR
These LCD's i know, the best price i found so far. They have technical support, will answer questions in a private customer support interface, but you can also phone call them or use their forum.
Graphical LCD displays here: http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/index-grph.html
Character LCDs here:

They also have a quite large amount of LCD you can choose from, but they also open for ordering customized models (minimum order may be reqired, that is 10 to 50 pcs). The technical documentations at each model, will tell you on what port config you can wire it.

Re: Atmel AVR
These are color lcd (tft) displays, for a good price. It may be also interesting, but an ARM may be reqired to drive them properly.
