How about limiting what you can do in your signature? Like, no font or size or color tags, and limiting the amount of characters and amount of carriage returns. I just cant stand seeing huge signatures.

ChimpFace9000, John has already introduced show/hide signatures option in members' profile. You can use that option to hide signatures for yourself.
