[serious] nintendo wii owners
I bought a nintendo wii yesterday and rented "Deca Sports". Deca sports proved to be a disappointment with its lack of depth and simplicity that is easily compared to games on addictinggames.com.
I won't be too quick to judge since that was just one game, so can any Wii owners recommend any games that are fun to play?

Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.
Take credit, not responsibility

Zelda Twilight princess is the only game for Wii that kept me occupied for a longer period of time. And Resident Evil 4.

I've been having a blast playing Sonic: The Secret Rings and MarioKart ... I also still play the WiiSports Tennis and Boxing...
I'va also heard that Carnival Games and Playground Games are a lot of fun...
I'm hoping to pick up Guitar Hero sometime soon.

Wait.....
You bought a Wii, recently, and didn't pick up Mario Kart? Does not compute.

Re: [serious] nintendo wii owners
I got a Wii, and we spend most of the time playing wii sports still. Nintendo seems to be the best of course at making games for their own system. Some games out there look really, really, (really) horrible...
The games that I have that have been fun to play so far though are:
Wii Sports
Mario Kart
Mario Galaxy
Tiger Woods 09
Wii Fit
Mario Galaxy is one of the higest rated games on there. If you liked Mario 64, then you will probably like mario galaxy.
I also have a 360 though, and I probably spend more time playing that than the wii. Just got fable 2, gears 2, and madden 09 over the weekend, so I dont even know when I will turn on my wii again.

Re: [serious] nintendo wii owners
I never played Fable 1, so my opinion of the game is totally open. I am not much of an RPG gamer, but so far it seems fun enough. As long as it isn't WoWish (which I despise), I think it will be ok.
Mario Kart is not so bad if you have the steering wheel attachments for the controllers. It takes a bit getting used to, but its not so bad. The worst part (which has been true of every mario kart game ever) is how the game tries to balance everyone out, so no matter how well you play, at some point during any race, you get totally screwed by the other players powerups.

Re: [serious] nintendo wii owners
as a side note, I don't buy any games until I read some reviews on them. I usually go to IGN, as they are pretty comprehensive with game reviews.
Since the Wii has no feature to download/play demos, you are really in the dark buying games unless you can try them first or read stellar reviews.
The 360 is really nice like that. I just downloaded the left 4 dead demo last night, wow, play that on your HD tv with the lights all off at night... that game looks to be a lot of fun.

How about games for 7 year old boys?
We just picked up the console for Christmas for them and I want to make sure I get some of the best games...
Opinions? Suggestions?

On the Wii? Anything that allows them to use the wiimote as much as possible will always be a winner.

didn't get to play it, but that game Steven Spielberg helped design is supposed to be lots of fun. I think the objective is just to smash blocks with the wiimote, but supposedly its pretty entertaining.

i reccomend Mariocart (with the steering wheel) and DEFINITELY Guitar Hero. My 6 year old cousin loves it, and my 8 yr old cousin is scarily good at it haha

Yeah the guitar hero/rock band games are good, but getting a bit out of hand. I hung up my plastic guitar for good recently, because I was neglecting my real one

im a violinist, so guitar hero is very easy for me because i can already move my fingers fast enough haha. Im sure its very easy to pick up tho, as my 8yr old cousin doesnt play anything else (instrument-wise) and is very good at guitar hero.

I never found guitar hero that fun...I suppose it could be a good game for your 7 year olds szlamany, if you can withstand hearing the clicketyclick from those controllers all the time.

Well my favourite parts of guitar hero are the battles with other people, trying to get 100%, and playing it in a room full of people, its great fun

I didn't have any problems playing. I finished 1, 2, 80s and 3 on expert. I just couldn't stand standing there with a half sized plastic guitar with 5 buttons on it when I have several real guitars that are more fun to play. If anything positive though, its a good finger workout.
Atheist, as far as the clicks... you just need to turn the volume up

Yeah! Todays kids are too into video games. I grew up with the NES in my house, but we rarely played it. We spent most of our time outside. Sometimes I feel like my generation is the last of its kind.

Re: [serious] nintendo wii owners
parents are scared to even let their kids wander off outside these days, even in "safe" residential neighborhoods...
That and the fact that kids "parents" now starting to be the early video game generation anyway, so its something they relate to with their kids more than our parents did.

Re: [serious] nintendo wii owners
I'll just try to let the real ones outnumber the plastic ones
to be serious though, a quick search for "top wii games" will bring you some good review and listing pages
