Have searched, different ? however
Ok our C guy has left the company..........so you guessed it l am stuck with the stuff....and to make matters worse l have no knowledge of C++, (have some C from years ago)
So anyway..........................
I need to get a version of C or C++ which will allow me to create a container in Open Insight, (which is a 16bit GUI environment) to call 32bit ActiveX controls
So which would be best
and just to upset people
What's a good learning book on C/C++ (Am doing a couple of courses in the next few months)
Thanks in Advance.

"Beginning Visual C++ 6" by Ivor Horton (Wrox Press) is a good book for learning C++. A lot of people rate the Sam's books too.
No idea about your problem though, good luck with that. Think you're gonna need it

Another good book is Teach yourself C++ In 21 days. Also, if you search the C++ forums, you'll find many other recommended books and links for learning C++.

Thanks Meg, only really added the last bit as a joke. Was more interested in anyones thoughts as to a version of C++ which would allow me to create a container in a 16bit GUI to support 32bit activeX controls. Am currently scratching my head over this one, but have seen it done.

Sorry Dude, someone making a point in Forum Feedback about using the site search capabilities. Asked the first question, and then added the second as a joke. Still will add your book to the growing list of ones to look at.
Thanks.

Thanks Dude but the books thing was a joke! Actually more interested in what people think about the problem at hand. Writing a container to allow access to 32bit controls in a 16bit GUI.

16-bit code communicates with 32-bit code through a thunk. Look in the Platform SDK for more details, because I have no idea...I've always been on 32-bit (started using C on RISC OS which is 32-bit all the way unlike some OS's I could mention ; then moved straight to Windows & Visual C++)

Well excuse me Parksie Clearly if we are taking too much of your valuable time then you shouldn't answer the thread.
Thanks for the link, will have a good look through it.
Clearly no one else has had to do this sort of thing, but thanks of the answer.
