I voted "rot in Rio" because I think it's a blooming cheek that he wants to come back just to get better health care in his old age!

Locking him up would be pointless because he'shardly a threat to society now and just cost us taxpayers oodles of money.

I personally think that it is an absolute disgrace that they may be even considering the idea. The man is a criminal and fled the country to escape justice. He's best left where he is now as like you say Mark, bringing him back now will only end up costing us money (the robbery nearly ended up costing one mans life).

Could you imagine the outcry if say, Myra Hindley had fled to Rio and now she wanted to come back. Why should Biggs be treated any differently .

Just so you know what I think!!!!!

I think that Ronnie should be let back in a free man, I believe that the man will get no peace when he returns here ... He will be hounded by papperatzi and people like that... So whats the point of him being put in prison? He would probably be better off in prison!

    A free man!!!!!!

Are you serious? The guy deserves everything he gets. Compared to prison life he's had things easy since he fled the country.

No offence Chris, but opinions like that make a mockery of the justice system (not that it needs much encouragment anyway!!!)

Yes... I believe that he did do something that was wrong... But because of our bloody awful judicial system he was able to live a free life over in Rio...... Now I think that because we failed to catch the little bugger after he did it ***'s the point in doing it now.. that would be done purely out of Spite by the courts... If they had done it after it was done then fine. But I think that he should be just left alone... He beat the system...

I agree with you in that there's not much point of putting him in prison anymore. What I completely disagree with is letting him back into the country, period. He should be left where he is. (I voted for him to rot in Rio btw!!!)

Ronnie Biggs should not be allowed into England, and that is his punishment. He did not beat the system. He simply fled the country.
He did this rather than stand against the English judicial system.
Excile is the one of the last stances of a reasonable justice system. Do not wish for what it stands for to be removed.

I know that there are international treaties against this

    But......

He should be condemned to spend the rest of his natural life in Leeds. *Shudder* I know this may seem an overly harsh sentence, but he did do wrong.

Had the great misfortune to live for a while with a couple from Leeds. Her name was Annie his name was "Our Danny" or something similar.

Ok a couple of horror stories.

Annie's idea of a salad was to open all these cans of pickled vegetables and mixed them together. No need to worry about the green stuff there l guess...they also had chips and friggin fried eggs with this combination. I don't really think Jamie Oliver has to worry about this team.

Ok image Sydney mid-summer and the temp is hitting 40% c. Ok so naturally everyone is having two+ showers per day. But not our intrepid duo from Leeds....oh no....their view on life was that you had a bath once a week, (probably if you need it or not), and this was like a major production number. We are talking radio set to Allan Jones, the bath salts, the body lotions, etc etc etc......well a couple of days after "bath night" a bloke had to flee to the pub to escape them.

    And a final one:

The bathroom really stank....l don't think our Danny had a great aim.

Of course these two may not be indicative of Leeds, but it is still a worry.

the biggest problem I have with northerners is I can't understand them. Yes, I am a purist southerner who speaks proper, like.

And that Annie and Our Danny (that pisses me off, putting "our" before everything, like Our kid) probably lived in a council house.

woohoo!! I've just offended every northerner and everyone living in a council house!!

Well I can't understand southerners. You claim you speak properly? Why do you insist on saying "grarse" instead of "grass"? That always annoys me!

Jethro - the Leeds punishment is a bit harsh. His crime was bad, but not THAT bad

Yeah! And instead of pronouncing it "beer" it sounds like "Lager Shandy".

cause grass is pronounced grarse, that's why!!. Loads of words aren't spelt how they are pronounced, only the germans do that kind of thing.

Yeah l could never get the "our" thing. I mean it wasn't like there were twenty Dannys charging around the house, and she needed to identify her one.
