Yes,
You should only have 1 Gun spec until its gets to late 80's. After that raise the second. Also your starting SPECIAL should has a major impact on what you raise first. For instance my spec at level 1 is.
Str 1
Per 10
End 7
Car 1
Int 10
Aig 1
Luc 10
The reason for high luck is you get 1 point in all stats for every 2 luck points so 10 points in luck gives use 10% crit and 5 points in every stat. High Perception is mostly because I use energy weapons. High intelligence gives me maximum points per level (20) from the very start and 7 in End gives me 300+ health.
For my 3 tag skills I pick Science, Repair and Lockpick. I focus on getting these 3 skills to there shelves (25,50,75,100) with repair taking priority and lockpick second.
With my build each of my tag skills starts in its late 40's this means I can but only a few points into them and dump some points into energy weapons. At level 3 you get the perk that gives 3 extra points per level. I dump these extra points into medicene as i love stimpaks!

So how do you spend your points after you get out of the vault?
Do you put all your points in energy first?
Or do you have a set ratio where you distribute each level's points over
1) Energy, 2) Repair, 3) Science, 4) Lockpick, 5) Medicene?

I'm not going to bother with Fallout 3 after all. From everyone's comments over the last few weeks it sounds like it sucks noodles.
They prevent you levelling up after level 20? WHAT???
I got to level 43 in Oblivion once.
Screw F3, I'm going to play Oblivion all over again until Elder Scrolls 5 comes out (2010 if you believe the rumours).

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
Well because Lockpick, Science and Repair are in there late forties I get them to 50 then dump the rest into energy weapons. The idea is to get the most important skills up asap as opposed to a little at a time. So for instance come level 3 I have 20 points to distribute and I have Lockpick Science and Repair at 50 in order to get to the next platform (75) I need 25 points for each. I value Repair the most and second lock pick. So I put 10 points into each and same next level. So at level 4 I have both at 70. See where Im going with this.

I bought SI and KotN expansion packs separately, you end up with 60 achievements total 1250 gamer points! Shivering Isles is worth the entire asking price alone.
And that's another thing i hated about F3, the price! In WHSmiths it was £45, in "Game" it was £43.
I mean come on, its just a shiny plastic disc for Pete's sake. MAKE IT CHEAPER Bethesda!!!

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
What I will say is dont pick energy wepons because I did. There is a lot more small guns than energy weapons. The only reason I went EW is because my stats made it easiest to level, its pretty hard to find EW's though.
One mistake a lot of people make is thinking rifles etc are big guns. They are not basicly everything that takes standard ammo is a small gun. The big guns are like fatman, rock-it launcher things like that
Another mistake people make is putting of repair. a fully repaired raiders armour goes for about 130 caps. If you dont repair and sell as is you get about 20 and your inventory fills up. You can stay in the wastes a lot longer if you have repair.
I dont see the point in putting points into big guns as for instance the fatman does nearly 500 points of damage in very bad condition. 2 shots from a fatman with 10 points in repair will take down a mutant behmoth, the strongest guy in the game.
Generally I explore light. I have one laser pistol, one laser rifle, leather armour a helmet, chems (jet and physco) and stim packs. If i find any laser weapons or power armour i bring it to the outcasts for stimpacks. They give 9 stims for badly damaged power armour. Thats more than the caps equiv.
If you play this game like oblivion your going to get pwnd. You need to play it like a survival game. For instance if raiding a building use the tap water to heal dont use stims its a waste. It takes a huge amount of radiation to kill and the adverse affects of radiation arent that adverse.
Also think smart if your in a battle with say a deathclaw those things run like hell so it makes sense to take its legs out. Use vats to aim for weaknesses. If someone has a rocket launcher it makes sense to cripple his arms rather than hoping you hit his head.
One more thing, always have a melee weapon and hot key it. Dont waste ammo on critters. A power fist or bat is the best.

Oh and another thing the best perk in the game is intense training dont bother with perks that raise abilities via points. You get plenty of points from leveling and some perks give unique bonuses they are the ones to get.

I found relatively many energy weapons in the game, especially now at the end of the game. Alot of laser rifles.

Choose the level 20 perk wisely! I didnt! I had no idea that level 20 was max when I reached it, so i didnt consider my choices carefully.

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
Only the repair skill affects custom build weapons correct? In that it increases default quality of weapons?
I don't need science stat or anything for it?
Also, wouldn't 1 point in Strength mean you can barely carry any items?

Don't feel bad. The leveling-up system in Oblivion actually works by counting the number of times the game has crashed while loading Cheydinhall: West Gate. Just smear some margarine on your game disc before playing and you'll be a Master of Alchemy in no time.

There's a West Gate? I've been trying to get in by jumping over the wall. Still don't know what's inside, but I have a pretty good Acrobatics rating.

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
Yes 1 point of strength means 160 points of encumbrance every 1 point of strength gives 10 points extra. You level up when you step outside so you can use IT to add one point, that gives use 2 in str. Then when you go to megaton, break into lucas simms house and get the strength bobble head that makes 3. Then disarm or blow up megaton which gives you enough experience for another level up. one more IT perk and that gives 4 points in strength.
Bear in mind that having a high repair means you will repair better freeing up space in your inventory. I have 5 points in STR and find it plenty.

Oh good grief, do I have to spell it out for you?
Give the prunes to the apprentice near the pond. Then you go to the mortuary, lie down on the slab and use the mirror on the flame.

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
Actually I tend to get bored of games pretty fast. I buy a lot of second hand games as they are very cheap at my local game stop. Then some of them I only play online like halo 3. I did change my gamertag when I broke my first xbox cause I didnt know you could get it back.
I had so many achivements on that. But yeah many games bore me horribly. Actually oblivion was the only one that held my interest. I had all the achievements on my old gametag.

Re: Fallout 3 stats.
Woss, as a fellow oblivion player and a 60/60 on my other user name guy let me tell you, I think you should buy fallout and I think you will enjoy it. The problem with fallout 3 is that it followed up on games not previously released by bethesda, the also had on of the moaniest fanbase known to man to please. Because of this they played it safe and this is what is evident. Having said that there are some noticable improvements to the Gamebryo Engine and other doo hickeys. I have know doubt that the improvements in fallout 3 show that fallout 4 and TES 5 will be awsome.
As I said I like Fallout 3, it just feels like they played it safe. I do recommend VATS be brought to TES in some form as the combat is very satisfying and the fact each baddie has strategic weakpoints is a feature they really should of had in oblivion rather than basing over the head.
Id say buy it.

I hadn't ever heard of the fallout series before fallout 3 and thus also have never played them, so I am unable to complain about any changes to the fallout series like other players do.
