Why do Americans drive on the right?

dunno 'bout other asians, but true for chinese. smart ppl this, but such bad drivers..should not even allow them wash a car.

Not in Beijing or especially Shanghai (OMG!).

I'm getting weird..eating stuff not even most Chinese do. Wont get dog or cat down my throat though. Heard down in hong kong and Guandong, they love that. uurgh.

I think there is a lot of confusion in this thread over driving in the right side of the ROAD, and sitting on the right side of your CAR....

Some countries, drive and sit on the right, some countries its one and the other, and then I guess some countries have both left maybe??? I don't know...

Dunno others, but the three I do know:
1) South Africa: Drive on Left, Most cars Right Hand Steering, but Left Handed is Legal (some ppl got imported old mustangs and stuff)
2) China (not Hong Kong): Drive on Right, All cars Left Hand Steering, Right Hand Steering Illegal
3) Hong Kong: Drive on Left, Most cars Right Hand Steering, Murder is Illegal
