    Question

    Short article:

    http://www.peta.org/news/0301/0301mcveigh.html

The guy is clearly a nutter. Bloody preachy vegetarians. Not that all vegetarians are preachy, I just don't like the ones that are.

Oh yeah, and can someone please explain this to me? Any North Carolina residents notice this?

There's some research regarding dairy products downunder and in the US which indicates that this may have an affect on violence. Personally l would rather finish this milk shake and then go around and hit the researchers over the head with SD's key.

I'd stab the bastard with my fork if he tried to wipe the steak off my plate, then i'd go to his house and put a sock over his cat's head, slap his wife, and give all his kids wedgies.

in a completely non-violent fashion mind you

    Dennis your right!

Strip the guy naked, melt all his cheese, pour it over him, and toss him in a vat fill of rabid mice.

Ok need to vote on someone to go around and sort him out. PJB gets my vote.

    No no no ppl.

I suggest squeezing lemons in his eyes first and then making him hoe down on some delicious hot chillies.
The the hot cheese over his body followed by a dash of salt baked in a kiln(size matter) for 5 mins then given to the rabbid mice.
Geez they deserve better than that!

They have probably seen what happened to the sheep. Same reason NZ race horses run so fast.

Don't worry have added vegians to my list of people with un Australian attitudes. Don't these guys realise we are actually omnivores, and as such need both meat and that green stuff to remain healthy and well adjusted. Ok forget the well adjusted l guess.

Also recently added to my list of potential targets for spamming are the oil companies who increased Sydney petrol prices by 10% on the morning of a major celebration in Australia. (For those interested it was Anzac Day in which we celebrate one hell of a defeat and every other war we have been involved in).

Im not a vegitarian, but i tought i would correct you on this anyway. Its quite easy nowdays to be vegitarien and get all the iron and protein etc. that you need without having to take any special tablets or anything. Thats the main concept behind vegitarism, that nowdays, we shouldt eat animals, coz we dont actually need to.

I think that's just bollocks. Animals eat other animals all the time, and it usually involves a lot more discomfort to whatever's getting eaten. Why should we want to avoid eating meat? So we kill animals to eat them, so what? That's the way the whole bloody animal kingdom works, it's hardly going against the grain.

I don't mean to aim that at you lord_dude, just anyone who wants to shove vegetarianism down people's throats as a moral issue. Sure, if you're uncomfortable with eating meat then go ahead and be vegetarian, but don't tell me that I'm somehow morally wrong because I could be nibbling cardboard-flavour lentil biscuits instead of a kebab after a night out drinking. Meat eating is a natural state for us humans.

Besides, have you ever tried to barbeque a bean burger? They fall apart. It's impractical.

At the risk of being laid into by you lot, I'm a veggie. I agree that there are some people who are pretty extreme in their views, but the majority of veggies aren't like that. Personally, I think eating dead animals is sick, but I'm not going to spend my life trying to change other peoples minds (but if they decide to change, then cool). I don't understand why meat eaters feel they have to attack veggies all the time. What's wrong in having compassion for fellow creatures?

By the way, there are loads more alternatives to meat than bean burgers or lentil biscuits, most of which I think taste nicer.

lord_dude is right, you don't need meat to be healthy, why do people keep coming up with this dumb argument? I'm 1.85m tall and weigh 75kg, and I'm built better than a lot of meat eaters I know. It's been proven that you get PLENTY of the required nutrients from vegetables. You need vegetables to be healthy, not meat.

HarryW, you think being deprived of having any decent life, then getting bought like an object, then getting a bolt shot through your head in some horrible slaughterhouse is nicer than living a free life in the wild, then having something like a lion give you a quick death by biting the throat? Even if another animal gave you a pretty painful death, at least they did it naturally, and most animals that do this do actually NEED meat, unlike humans.

Nulus, I agree with almost everything you say (apart from the quote above). I love eating meat, but I have a number of mates who are vegitarians. When they come round I always make sure that I cook a couple of nice vegitarian dishes and a couple of nice meat dishes. We don't try to dissuade the other from their choice of food.

Now for the quote above.... bolt through the brain, or having my throat torn out. Mmmm, which is quicker

Besides there is a natural order to things which we cannot disturb. Britain made a huge mistake hundreds of years ago by wiping out the wolves. They were the Deer's only natural predator. Therefore either we kill the deer each year to keep the numbers down (and eat the meat), we slaughter every last deer on the island, or we bring back wolves (this would get a great big thank you kiss from the sheep farmers I'm sure). I'm not trying to justify us continuing to eat meat on this argument alone, but I'm just pointing out that us not eating meat will not really make much of a difference. Somewhere along the way someone will kill the deer. The same goes for cows and sheep. If we aren't going to eat them, every non-dairy cow will be slaughtered as they would serve no purpose.

Many people would say this is preferable, but I would counter that if the animal had fore-knowledge of it's fate and lived in fear all it's life, yes that would be cruel, but as it is, the cows around where I grew up had brilliant lives. Eating, sleeping, sh*tting, with no predators stalking them.

Anyway, like I said before, I think it's each persons own choice. I wouldn't dream of trying to present an argument as to why you should act against your own conscience in this matter, I'm just trying to explain why others do not feel the same way.

Well that's your opinion and I'll respect it (doesn't mean I agree though ). I do, however, agree with your last point. Just one other point though:

I think it's pretty hypocrital for people to say that numbers of various species should be controlled, when the human species is the most over populated on this planet. We don't own this planet, we're (supposed to be) sharing it. You'd be pretty disgusted if there was a cull of humans, wouldn't you?

Actually, we do own the planet. Just as the dinosaurs owned it 65 million years ago.

We should not be apologetic for being smarter than all other species. The difference with a cull of humans is that we percieve each human to have a right to live.

This is a law of a civilised society (i.e. equality).

It has not always been so. The Spartans for example, had a caste system that appeared to run very smoothly. Sure there where slaves, but these people could perceive a better life (i.e. that of the humans around them). You don't see a cow eyeing up your new BMW with envy now do you? I personnally do not see therefore how you can compare humans with cattle (for culling).

By the way, I'm not trying to be argumentative. Like I said, I respect your views, but I do enjoy a good discussion, and I'm certainly enjoying this one

Okay I think SD said basically what I was thinking about the quick death thing. I don't mean to attack vegetarians as a whole at all, several members of my family are vegetarians, and I have vegetarian friends and nobody preaches to each other about what we should eat. My complaint is with those vegetarians who think that they are on some moral high-ground and can tell people how cruel and heartless they are being by eating meat. It doesn't hold with me.

Anyway what do you mean 'at least they did it naturally'? Humans are naturally omnivorous, what's so unnatural about humans eating meat? Forget about farming for a minute, what about wild animals that are killed and eaten by humans, is that also a bad thing?
    Harry.

SD, we don't own the planet, it's not ours to do with what we want. It belongs to everyone on it. We just dominate it with arrogance.

Humans only have more brainpower than other species, I don't actually think we're smarter. I mean, look how we've used our intelligence - very stupidly. We destroy the planet, ourselves, and wipe out entire species. I don't see how you can say other species don't have a right to live, just cos their brains didn't evolve as much as ours. I don't wanna get into philosophical crap, but I believe that everybody that has a nervous system has soul, and each one deserves respect. A cow wouldn't eye up a BMW cos it doesn't have material desires - one thing that makes other species better than us I think.

Don't worry, I like a good argument too.

HarryW, what I meant was that when wild animals kill, they do it the way nature intended, and they do it cos they have to, otherwise they'd die. Humans do it en mass, by blasting a bolt through their head.

I wouldn't be much against humans killing for themselves, as long as they did it naturally, ie. in the wild, with no weapons, doing it to survive. The thing is, humans could never do that to anything the size of pigs or cows. We were never designed to eat large animals, only things like rodents. Even gorillas, with their huge canines only ever eat small rodents, and do that pretty rarely. Most of their nutrition comes from vegetation, and they're huge mother*****ers!
