    autorun.exe

    Hi there,

I have a load of cab files that i want to install in one go. Therefore i need to create a autorun.exe file, which will load when when i insert the mini SD card. The thing is i have no idea how to do this. a couple of questions that will help me out.

    1. I have a autorun.exe for a group of apps created by a company. Does the autorun.exe look for another file which then it loads?

When i run the autorun.exe i have got, it starts up a kind of installation process by where i can select which cab files i want to install, i then click next and it automatically installs.

i found where the list of cab files are held. They are listed in a file called install.gki.

Please can someone shine some light on this as well as some guidance for creating my own autorun.exe to install a group of cabs (flash, google maps, and some cabs i have made which change settings.)

    Thank you in advance.

    Matt

    Re: autorun.exe

    Hi,
I use the excellent PocketPC Installer which supports drag and drop for your cab files, and creates an 'autorun.exe' or a desktop installer.

I found the investment well worth it for the hassle it saved me.

OpenNetcf also do an SDK - details here

There is a great article here by Chris Tacke. Also try a search for the following articles on MSDN for:

    Re: autorun.exe

Something like what - PocketPC installer, or the articles?

I know as developers, we sometimes blanch at spending our hard earned money on tools, but then spend hours and hours looking for a cheaper solution, which costs us more in time (and therefore money) than buying the tool originally.

    Just my 2 cents
