Parents can't call boy 'Friday'

ITALY'S top court of appeals has barred a couple from naming their son "Friday," castigating them for the "ridiculous" name and forcing them to call the boy Gregorio instead.
[...]
Italian law forbids giving to children names that are "ridiculous or can embarrass".
This is fantastic. I think a law like this should be passed in California for the sake of celebrities' children, and perhaps in Australia for the sake of bogans' children.

In Italian "Friday" means "Mactard".
I don't live here any more.

I don't see anything wrong with Friday as a name. That's not ridiculous or embarrassing. If parents can name their kids Wednesday why not Friday?
There are quite some ridiculous names out there. I remember reading one story where some girl's parents named her something like "Tulula can do the Hula". Dumb.

I shall name my first-spawned: "Glashgnarggg, Destroyer of Worlds, Slayer of Masses, Bringer of Despair, Usurper of Lucifer the Damned"
Either that or "Robert".
I don't live here any more.

That's because everyone knows Friday is a girl's name.

The dude at the Arby's had a name tag that read "DONQUE".
I should like to slap his mother.

There was a woman in the news here a while back who's name was Rotunda.
Unfortunately it was unclear from the article just how rotund she was.

Frank Zappa named his kids Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva.

Re: Parents can't call boy 'Friday'
Moon Unit actually shortened her name to Moon Zappa which doesn't sound "normal" i guess, but doesn't sound quite as bad. Frank Zappa also did lots of drugs....
It is worse "IMO" in hollywood, where you have people naming their kids such things as Jason Lee's son "Pilot Inspektor Lee" (yes with a K)
Or names like "Apple", "Audio Science", "Blue Angel", etc...

No, he didn't. Zappa was notoriously anti-drug and would fire any of his musicians he suspected of abusing drugs. Where are you getting your information?

i could have sworn I saw a rockumentary on famous musicians and he was talked about in the section they did regarding musicans and drug use, unless I misheard and he was mentioned for being anti-drug.

Yeah, Zappa was as anti-drug as you will ever see in that industry. And he was rewarded with an early death at age 52 while walking zombie Keith Richards still lives on snorting everything imaginable including his father's ashes... Life is not fair.
His kids' names were in response to all the silly, pretentious nemes that Hollywood celebrities give their kids and yet never receive any criticism for. He liked to say that it didn't matter what names he gave to his kids as it would be their last name that got them into trouble.

Of course, people could all follow the example of George Foreman. That's a pretty non-peculiar name, so he used it for ALL of his kids (and there are several of them).
My usual boring signature: Nothing

Let's check our amazingly reliable friend wikipedia:
He labeled people on drugs "[censored] in action", and he only tried marijuana a few times without any pleasure.
Oh, and I'm not a thief. I've only stolen a few times without any pleasure.
