Crystal Reports 8.0 With VB 6.0 Error loading designer

    Hi there,
I upgraded to Vista, installed VB 6.0 and it worked, Then I installed CrystalReports 8.0.01,and it installed and runs independently . I didn’t have problems until I started using the Crystal Reports Wizard. Any time I try to view embedded reports or trying to access the wizard (create a new report), VB crashes with a memory error. I’ve checked the dlls, and there doesn’t seem to be a security issue, also I run the application as an administrator.

Anyone have a similar problem? If so, what did you do to solve it?

    Thanks!

    Michael

    Welcome to Forums!
Your question really belong in here...

Anyway... Lots of people report different issues with CR 7/8/9 running on Vista.
If someone manages to compile most common into one then the answer could be as simple as "CR versions prior to CR X/XI are not compatible with Vista".
I hope I am wrong but odds are against it.

Not sure if you have found an answer to this. I have had the same problem and could not seem to find anything via a Google search.

Anyway, I seem to have solved it by changing the application compatibility mode on the VB6.EXE to Windows 95. Windows 98 also seems to work.

I am not sure of what if anything breaks in this mode but my apps seem to be loading, running and compiling OK.

Windows Nt4, 2000, XP SP2 and Vista all cause VB to crash as soon as I load up a report in the VB6 environment.
