Many people refer to computer engineering or software engineering, so I think you could reasonably say yes, but to what end? What other, single word, category would fit? What other department would computer science fit into? I'd say art, but most people don't consider logic to be artistic.

I've always said art+science with ART in the first place. I do however consider CS as part of engineering too but isn't engineering is just another way of saying ART?

    Best regards.

[tongue style="in-cheek"]I don't see how you can say that! You've seen some of the code posted here ... some of it is quite creative.[tongue]

In all seriousness, there is some debate, since in some places to be called an "engineer" you actually have an engineering degree and pass the engineering equivalent of the bar. But in general the computer science school falls under the science and engineering schools.

But even now, depending on the university, some computer degrees are being moved to the Business schools (management, etc.) It's getting to the point where hardware (IT) is basically under the Engineering while development and other computer services (IS) are moving to Business.

Some universities even give BEng in computer science.

In Scotland you get a BSc after 3 year and a BSc(Hons) after 4 years. But then for your 5th year you get a MEng.

Computing just depends on your perspective.
