Site Running Slow
The past few days, in the mornings, the site has been ungodly sloooow! I can watch every item/image load, or be stalled/locked for several seconds, one item at a time. This makes page navigation about 1 minute per page at its fastest and up to 2.5 minutes at its worst. This isnt my connection either as other sites load in just a couple of seconds (2-3 secs).
Even from work its even slower but thats to be expected with a large base of users on the net.
Anyone else experiencing this too?

I've seen it a few times over the last couple of days, but it only lasts for about 10 seconds then goes back to normal.

Re: Site Running Slow
I'm not sure what the cause would be; however, right now I'm running a script that will go for about 10 more minutes. That might slow down things a tiny bit, but shouldn't have any real impact. I didn't run this before now and I don't plan to run it again, so it would only be causing a delay at this moment alone.

Re: Site Running Slow
Usually the site will load in about 5-8 secs and for the past few days (I gave up over the weekend) its been taking a average of 30 secs from home. I have a 3000/768 DSL conn there so not sure whats going on.
From work at best its also 30 seconds per page at best but average is 1 minute per page. Two separate physical locations cant be coincidense so i was hoping others may be getting it too to see what the issue may be.

I wonder if the same thing is happening to Martin.

This page just loaded in under 4 seconds for me. A few of you have my IM acccount. If you find it is loading slowly (30 seconds or more consistently), then ping jpNYC or me to test it on our machines.

Re: Site Running Slow
I have been experiencing very slow loads today; I think it is connected with ads because if I disabl advertisements it loads normally in under a second.

Re: Site Running Slow
If thats true, then it would be regional unless its a particular ad being shown in multiple areas. But even with that it wouldnt be consistant unless it was the ad delivery method/mechanism.
Seems much better today but we shall see if it improves.
Probably tomorrow I can work on testing this more as I have a deadline today.

Re: Site Running Slow
I gotta go as I'm late but here are just two of the three places where its really slow and hanging. This page too 25 seconds to load. stopped at the big ad and then at the last post which was waiting for the quick reply box and footer. when it stops at the big ad waiting for it, nothing else has or will load until its populated. The tables are empty as its all blue page until the next hang location etc.

Site is running slow again from home on my fast conn.
About 20-25 seconds per page load. Could the "no news" issue be affecting it?

Seems slower to me. It used to be that this forum and associated tools ran faster than the MSDN Forums. That does not appear to be the case anymore.

MSDN forums did redo their site so comparing VBF to them now is not applicable.

Re: Site Running Slow
Oh god its sooo slooooow again Just had a 3 post page (very small) take 55 seconds to freaking load
Seems to be averaging about 20-30 seconds per page whereas when its normal its about 5 seconds per page.
Maybe the server just cant handle the traffic/load anymore? Seems always really slow in the mornings now but much faster at nights like normal.
I'll done for a while. Be back later. Its too frustrating waiting.
