monitor suggestions
I need an external monitor for my laptop because this screen is just too small (14" widescreen with a max resolution of 1280x768).
What is a good choice for <$200? I've been shopping around, but everything seems overkill for a computer that only supports a max res. of 1280x768.

Re: monitor suggestions
it only supports 1280 x 768 because that's all the screen shows. A monitor will be able to show higher resolutions.

If you look up your graphics card on the manufacturers website, you can probably find out what the maximum resolution is.
My laptop screen, for example, has a resolution of 1440x900, but the graphics card supports up to 2048x1536 on an external monitor.
Once you know that, we can help you find a suitable monitor.
Btw, what do you want to use the monitor for? Programming? Office work? Gaming?

Thanks. I believe the max resolution of the card is 1680x1050.

Office work and programming. I won't be using it for gaming.

then you should get the largest one you can buy at the cheapest price.
Plenty of screen real-estate and any color issues or slight image distortions won't matter in office work.
