Help with Visual Basics for Game Programming!
I just bought 2 books on game programming for teens by John Harbour. I dont have any visual basics but the CD came with DirectX SDK for Visual Basics. Where do I download visual basic and do i need to get DirectX?!?!?!
(I need Visual Basics 5.0 or 6.0)

Re: Help with Visual Basics for Game Programming!
Welcome to VBForums
Visual Basic (no S!) has moved on a few versions since then, so you will not be able to get 5 or 6 unless you find them second hand somewhere (perhaps eBay).
You can get Visual Basic 2008 for free (from www.microsoft.com/express/vb ) but it is a bit different, so your books wont be much use with it.

Re: Help with Visual Basics for Game Programming!
If you have Game Programming for Teens (Second Edition), then make sure you use Visual Basic Express 2005, unless you have Visual Studio. Also make sure you have the latest DirectX runtime (not sdk) installed. The SDK, has help files, but they do not integrate into the new help systems, unless you have an old copy of VB.Net. If you download the august 2005 sdk, it has the managed directx help files in .chm format for easy access.
