    Zipping Files

On my computer, the default compression software is something called WinRar, which I got from an old company. You need to pay for it, so I can't use it to zip up pictures and videos to send to relatives.

I just tried to download the latest version of WinZip, but found that you had to pay for that too. I seem to remember it being free software - did that change at some point or am I wrong that it used to be free? Is there some zipping utility that can be downloaded for free so I can send files to people without them having to pay to open them?
(VB/C#) is clearly superior to (C#/VB) because it (has/doesn't have) <insert trivial difference here>.

It may show you that annoying trial box but it should still let you keep zipping up files. And you should be able to create .zips with it, not just .rars. And then send it. How is it stopping you right now?

Windows XP and higher has the ability to make zip files. I can't check XP at the moment, but Vista is just selecting the files you want, right clicking them, then selecting Send to > Compressed (zipped) file
