Brand New to VB, Help Required :)
Hi guys, thanx for taking the time to read this,
Now I was hoping that one of you could tell me which version of VB would be Ideal for a first time user, and also where can I go to Download it
Thanx in advanced!! 
BTW, I am a game modder too, so I understand basic ways that software works, so dont worry about that, Thanx!!

Not sure if it is "ideal" but most recent version is VB 2008 - Express Edition is free so get your copy drectly from Microsoft.

Welcome to the forums
VB.Net isn't the easiest version of VB to learn and get started with, but the majority of programming jobs will require this, and for that reason it is the best to advise you spend the time getting to grips with.
The latest version of this is 2008, free to download as RhinoBull has already provided the suggestion for & link to. I'm seconding his suggestion.

VB.NET 2008 Express is the best to start with for two reasons:
2. It is the latest and greatest version of the development platform.
1. It is FREE!

If you are going to be doing game development then you may want to look at XNA Game Framework but you will need to download C# Express 2008 and XNA Framework.
