    Resolved [RESOLVED] mobo speaker

I built a pc recently using the Asus P5K motherboard and found it does not have a speaker (the like needed for the beep api), does anyone know of a site where i can order one and how i would go about fitting it?

    Re: mobo speaker

I've never heard of a motherboard without built-in speaker.
Are you sure it's not something that must be activated in the BIOS?

On the other hand, if your motherboard doesn't have a built-in speaker, than it probably also won't have a sound chip, so buying a speaker wont' do you much good.
    I code C#....

well the p5k is a very popular motherboard, i doubt its the first without a speaker. I'm unable to check the bios options atm but will take a look when im home this evening, pretty sure i dont remember seeing anything though

    Re: mobo speaker

Some motherboards these days don't have speaker onboard.
It saves space (well not that much, but anyway...)
On the other hand, new cases these days come with speakers; just a matter of connecting them to the motherboard.

I'm sure if you go to the local pc store they might have some lying around.

Otherwise PM me. I can send one through mail in a week or so when I get home. We've got a bunch of them in our shop.
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

you should have pin outs in the same group your power switch and leds hook to. Even if a motherboard HAS an onboard beeper, there are still external pins here.

my case is the antec p182 which also doesnt have a built in speaker seems ive been a bit unlucky with neither the case or motherboard having one.

I'll have a look in a small pc shop nearby later and see if they have one, hoping ill be able to scavenge one of an old pc though

this just occurred to me: most aftermarket sound cards have a pc speaker input channel so you can play the motherboard beeps through the sound card.
