VFP Forum?

Hello,

I was wondering if perhaps a FoxPro Forum could be set up here. I know it is not the "in" thing right now, but it is still very popular in business circles. My job has recently switched to VFP 6.0 programmer, and I have not been able to find any site that has the same feel as this one does that covers FoxPro. Thanks.

It's unlikely this will happen at the moment, as I don't think that there is the demand, and you can use one of the other forums for that if you want.

i'ts a database/GUI all rolled into one, but since Access came out with VBA included, it took a bit of a back seat, but microsoft still produces it as they are including it in the .NET suite

Actually it was dropped from studio.net and will be released as VFP 7.0.

It works infinitely better using large tables (3GB+) over WAN's with multiple users (1000+) than anything provided by VB or Access. I work for a major international fulfillment house / call center that uses a custom-built VFP program that uses 28GB tables, has over 12,000 end users, and is 'live' over a global WAN. Access would either crash or be so slow it would be useless. I don't think VB could handle that either.

VFP is not as intuitive or easy to learn for newbies, though. Most of the coding is very similar to VB and Access, so if you know both and SQL it should be a very easy transition for you.

Yeah. I'd say the nail in VFP is even deeper than it was over a decade ago. I agree that Access is pretty much sputtering at this point too.

Any request for a new DBASE forum? I was just talking about Aston Tate a few days ago!
