    be a bit more specific
whats the price range your willing to spend ?
what are the specs of the computer currently?
    etc...

id say go with The 8800GT if you have the cash its about $200 bucks ( atleast most retail places around here) it can play most games ive came across i hear the 8900 is pretty good also another thing is to do some googling on the cards and read some reviews

Get yourself a good amount of RAM and a decent graphics card. You don't need to go for the latest and greatest as the performance is marginally better. I'd go for the 8xxx as well, when the time comes for the computer to fall into the 'obsolete' category, I'd probably buy another 8xxx.

I have a WinFast PX8600 GT 512MB graphics card for ~ £70 from eBuyer.com. Sadly they don't do them anymore.

I suppose that too is how they sell their cards... phase out the older ones so that when it's time to upgrade, you have to get a newer more expensive one.

I second the 8800gt which is what i use but there is no point having a good card if your ram or processor are outdated.

Hang on, you already have a 8800GT 512 MB graphics card? Am I going completly crazy or is that not good enough for what you asked?

    Re: Video Card Problem

Crysis is a future-specs bases game a good idea might be to add an aegia physx card.

You might want to get a better brand than EVGA; it's the cheapest and not really the best. You might want to consider Asus or MSI.

Not that it would be much of a difference; 2x250GB instead of 500GB makes the reading much faster if you get the same RPM as you have now. But that's not really a booster though.

By the way, what kind of motherboard do you have?
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

    Re: Video Card Problem

i have an 8600 with 256 mb video ram, and crysis runs just fine on it. Gets a little choppy at high resolutions but looks great at normal ones.
