contest for free MSDN subscription
Guys, I am holding a contest to give away 100% free a 1 year premium MSDN subscription (around $11,000 price tag).
The contest is pretty simple, you just need to write a short essay on why you should get it and what good you would do with it. I thought about making it a coding contest, but I feel it is too easy to cheat with that.

I know there are many forum members who could benefit from this, so I hope to see some entries from you guys (and gals).

Cool idea. I thought about doing something similar. In the end I proffered them up to the first three responses I got at the office. Like the movie, they were "Gone in 60 Seconds" ...

I did as well with 2, however this is a small office here, so I figured I would extend one out to the great community which I am a part of here on vbforums.

That's a nice idea. Will you be posting the winning entry? Especially if it is funny?

I may or may not post the winning entry. Most likely I will though.

This is a serious thread and should be treated as such. If a member(s) doesnt have the common sense to realize this or respect then they wouldnt be worthy of the prize.

Re: contest for free MSDN subscription
Yes it is for real. Microsoft was nice enough to send me this gift to share with the programming community, so I would much rather it go to a VB developer, which is why I am letting you all know about it.
You don't have to be a VB developer to submit an entry, and being a VB developer won't give you any extras points, but I know the majority of people on here are VB devs obviously, so this is a good place to let you guys know about it.
PS, thanks for cleaning up the thread a bit Rob

man, I really though offering this thing to you guys was really a nice gesture. Instead I just get a bunch of crap posting in this thread.
I guess chit-chat was a bad choice. Perhaps I should have picked a place where grown ups hang out.

Or perhaps someone should have put [serious][/serious] in the title, which is the generally accepted standard for serious CC threads and is usually respected.

Re: contest for free MSDN subscription
Max and Kregg, you guys are right.
It is my fault for thinking maybe some of you were mature enough to take something seriously.
So if anyone does want to enter the contest, then by all means please do. However this thread is now closed to prevent all the dribble from the children of chit-chat.

That is not the case, all threads should be treated with respect unless its clear the intention of the poster is to jibber jabber.
And continuing hijacking of threads will result in exclusion from the forum.
