Resolved [RESOLVED] Articles posted on VBF by me

Can I add them to my resume as a possible technical writing sample?

I know there is only 2-3, but I am planning to add more soon.

    Why would it be misinterpreted?

Just to add to the OP all content is owned by JM so I'd check with Brad/Joe. However if you have anything of interest maybe submit it to CodeGuru

Personally, I wouldn't list articles on a resumé, unless you've had them published in notable, authoritative journals. (This essentially rules out most I.T. topics.)

I would definitely not list online publications. Anyone can write a blog; just having something published on the internet is no achievement.

    I have to add, though:

Content published on VBForums is not owned by JupiterMedia. The act of publishing grants JupiterMedia a licence to use the content. Copyright ownership remains with the author.

Sorry to nitpick, but it's been a hot topic in the past.

    For lots of differnt reasons:

    Jealousy
Fear that someone’s being on line too much
    Etc...
    Etc...
    Etc...

I had seen it happened to more than one person and in one case I knew exactly what was the reason - the darn Jealousy.

If by some chance you do decide to list them, I would repost them on CG after some polishing up as we dont have a proper "article" area like CG does. Plus you can list your articles there and not give away any membership to CG or VBF which may look like you would be spending company time goldbricking by posting on forums.

Oh, says thou that art Goldbricking master

Seriously though, listing anything Forum related may not look good at all to potential employers. Getting an article posted on CG (not their forums) or other type of article sites would be better then nothing if you had a underpowered resume.

    Jealousy
Agree, seen that in my previous job.
spending company time goldbricking by posting on forums.
I agree with that but even posting articles on CG or similar sites would be considered wasting time. Isn't it?

I believe this may put my candidature in jeopardy, so I am ruling off the option of putting it in my resume.

    Thank you everyone.

Could be viewed either way. If its an article that was submitted from non-business hours or days then its just extra curicular activities which shows extra dedication and pursuit of knowledge/learning/self motivation.
