[RESOLVED] Yahoo search instead of windows explorer search.

Have you tried going to Add/Remove programs under Control panel? Is there anything Yahoo related in there?

seems like your windows explorer search is somehow got mapped with IE search page.....may be try to change your default search page,for detail have a look at MS KB

the default ie search page is different than the explorer search page. according to the fellow i'm trying to solve this problem for, there is nothing yahoo related in a/r programs.

Although, the problem isn't with internet explorer, it's with windows explorer. Two totally different search pages.

I don't know what the problem was, but often times I find that knowing the solution is more important that knowing the problem, as interesting as knowing the problem might be.

i was able to recreate that situation by turning off search assistant and customizing search preferences to use yahoo search.

I tried that and I couldn't get the yahoo search page to come up , I only got the search companion.

i hate to point out the obvious button again, but you see the "change preferences"?

I've done that. The yahoo page was displaying for file searches not internet searches. If you modify the options as you've shown, then click the search button again, the search companion comes up again. If you go into Internet Explorer and click search, yahoo will come up. My problem was in windows explorer.

you did see where i "use classic search"? did you skip that step? It turns off search companion. It's the last step. I just didn't post the 5th screenshot because it looks exactly like yours.

I see it now LO. It's possible that that's what happened, although I'm not sure because the issue is fixed now..
