[2008] best way to contact home.

hmm, i know this question probably does not have a right answer.

I am looking for a long term way to have my app connect "somewhere" that i have control off to look for updates and such.

I have come up with these:

    1) my home computer. Not very useful as my IP is dynamic, and it will change time to time.

    2) Web host. I have a .net webhost, but again I dont know how long I am going to keep paying for it, or using it, or even how long the company is in business for.

I think the best way if its even possible at all is email. lets say I create a gmail account. maybe the app can read the email with the time stamp, and maybe the contents? and then it can parse the contents? This means I'll have to do a steady template for email and maybe all this downloading and parsing may take a while?

Do you guys have any ideas?

i would go web host, there not that expensive really, and a lot of them don't have contracts. You just need to give 30 days notice to cancel the service.
