My frightening experience

Thursday night is an exciting night here in the North East; it’s alternative night and a good night to go out and socialise with friends. I must admit, it was a really good night and fun was had by all. However, like most things these days, good things have to be balanced out with bad things.

I was walking home and on my journey I decided to cut through a veiled part of the estate that would get me home faster; the route isn’t alien to me and I know it quite well. All of a sudden, I here someone running, I turned and looked and it was something that has been subject to a lot of deserved disrepute and ridicule in this country: A chav. I continued to walk on and he struck me in the back of the head, I fell forward and turned round, he then tried to punch me and I managed to catch his fist and hold on to it, he then tried to punch me with his free hand which I caught with my other hand. In an act of desperation to free him self, he attempted to kick me in between the legs and I locked my legs together keeping his leg in place. Now unable to retaliate, I pushed him forward sending both us to the ground, I pinned him down (face-up) and I told him to “calm the f*** down”, he then demanded that I let him go and I refused as I was concerned he may try to attack me again.

Whilst holding the chav to the ground, I asked him what he wanted, to which he replied “Your f****** money!” I then told him that he would not get it. Knowing that I would not submit to his demand, he apologised and asked me to let him go, I told him that if he tries anything when I let him go, I wouldn’t be as merciful. He promised me that he wouldn’t and so I got off him, thus, he was free. He got up and picked up his shoe and then apologized and explained that he only attacked me because I thought I was a “crack head”, he then had asked me if I could spare him a few pound so he could get “a bottle” and I refused to give him anything. He then walked off and I ran home, afraid he would return with his friends.

You were lucky being able to fend off the attack (or are you just skilled - which would explain why he apologized, he was afraid of getting his own butt kicked).

I know, my parents said the same thing. They told me that it would have been a different story if he had attacked me again or if he had a knife, I could have been seriously hurt, or worse.

I’m not a violent person, so I couldn’t bring myself to do something like that. Besides, in this town, if you hurt someone, then the person who you hurt call upon their whole family tree for support which usually leads to disaster .
