    Hey

I know im fairly new here, but I like how everything is laid out. This being said, would it be possible to add subforms to some of the forms?

    Example

    -VB
    ---Forms
    ---Modules
    ---funcations
    ---etc

You get my point. I own a large forum and thats how we operate it, but to each his own.

P.S, I do like this forum, this isn't telling you what to do, but constructive suggestion.

Well i don't mean to pry, but one of the reasons could be exactly this. I post on alot of forums ( and im assuming the adverage nerd does :P )

But one of the main things i look for is organization. Thanks for the quick reply.

    Re: Hey

We've found that a lot of people prefer to have fewer rather than more forums. As long as the subject lines are clear, this makes it easier to see all the posts and to answer more of them. When we do subforums, people tend to post in the master forum anyway, or many people ignore many of the subforums so they get less traffic. Only if we get a lot of questions on a specific topic do we then create subforums for that topic.

We could create an entire organized structure, but most of the forum areas would get very little traffic posting -- or answering.

Which would you prefer - a pretty organized forum with lots of subforums, or a better chance to get an answer to your question?

Well i just think putting a subform for controls and/or functions would help drastically.

I disagree. When I'm looking for threads that I can help with I generally stay in the Classic VB forum. I could go to other places like the Database forum or the XML forum but I rarely do and the reason for that is that 90% of the threads that I could help with are in the Classic Forum. If there were 2 or 3 subforums in the Classic forum that would be 2 or 3 other forums that I would need to scan for threads and I might not do it. I don't think I'm unique in that and hence the people in those forums I feel would get less help.

If you make your Subject specific enough, say something like "I have a problem using the RichTextBox control" you'll get all the help you need.

    Re: Hey

The problem is that most threads aren't about just controls or just functions.

    Re: Hey

    Most of the time,
Most issues are more generically based on a person not knowing basic concepts.

I could point to one user whose thread, either here or at another website had the threads title indicating an issue with a textbox.

However, it ultimately came down to not understanding his own requriements interaction with considerations of what his data actually represented.

A forum for a control would have been a natural choice for where his textbox thread should have gone.

But the best place was indeed a more general forum.
