Comcast couldn't run an ISP
Even if AT&T set it up and maintains it. (According to the ASN attached to my IP address it says: ATT-INTERNET3) (Ok so I don't know if they set it up and maintain it but, AT&T are doing something else their name wouldn't be on the ASN).
Oh wait they did, and they do.
I currently been on hold for 60 min, 3 call transfers (1 from billing to HSI support, 1 from HSI internet support to billing, and 1 from billing to HSI support). After all the dust clears I only got a ~$5 credit on my bill. And still no reason why I had lost my additional IP addresses.
Thanks comcast, I feel like a valued customer.
Sorry, thats my rant for the day. I'm sure other people have similar stories.

My bestest friend in the whole wide world works for Comcast, and he says you are the one causing the problem. Some folks will be by later to beat you to death with hammers and crowbars. Mention my name before you die and I get a commission.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.
Take credit, not responsibility

Re: Comcast couldn't run an ISP
reminds me of sprintpcs. I had to call them EVERY SINGLE MONTH for credit of approximately $2 for four minutes of data usage that i was being billed for each month. I had an unlimited data plan and wasn't supposed to be billed anything, but it was there every month. Well i got crammed (actually my wife did, family plan, for $9.95 a month for inspirational text messages she never received) and when i called to complain i was informed that there was a notation on my account that i am not to be given any more credits.
In other news, i was charged .20 per text message for text messages i was sending from a phone that didn't actually support text messages. You get the idea. When my contract's up, i'm switching.

I've heard more complaints on these forums about Comcast than about VB6, PHP, HTML, W3C, global warming, weather, terrorists, Obama, Clinton, McCain and George W Bush combined.
Why don't you (plural) cut your losses and switch over?

Even if AT&T set it up and maintains it. what does that mean? i had fewer problems with comcast than any other provider i ever had, and the same goes for Cingular.

Switch over to what?
Comcast is monopoly in this area.
The only other thing thats available is DSL, but I already have that and its not as good (speed wise of course) as comcast, but I have also had less problems with it.
If AT&T ever puts fiber down, I will definitely switch over to "u-verse". First I'll call up comcast and say "hey, I'm thinking of switching to AT&T u-verse, what kind of deal can you give me to stay ". And if they are like "None.", I will tell them "Cancel my account because I know of a company who actual cares about keeping customers."

Contact the bbb, companies usually don't listen to one little person, but when the BBB gets involved they get a little scared.

Go ahead try and get phone service from them, you will then see the horrible truth....
I remember reading one story about a guy who just wanted the phone service installed. Tech came over installed it, supposedly worked fine. Next day internet didn't work, he calls up internet is working again. The next day as far as I remember, I believe his phone and internet went down.

Re: Comcast couldn't run an ISP
I'm willing to sacrifice the speed of comcast for the reliability of DSL. I got rid of comcast about 8 years ago because they did such a bad job. I would not switch back if they were giving away free servers and porsches. Last year some comcast guy stopped at my house to try to sell me TV service and I said I would throw out my TV before I'd switch to comcast.

Re: Comcast couldn't run an ISP
Comcast is horrible. They give you a "gateway", which is a massively butchered wireless router rebuilt to be a modem, and armed with Comcast's own pile of **** firmware. Download anything faster than about 150kb/s and it power cycles. By itself. Sometimes it won't reestablish the cable connection and you have to manually reset it. And they do have a monopoly. Verizon FiOS is still unavailable where I currently live, and won't be available where I'm moving to. So it's either try not to break a Comcast POS, or go from 6mb/s down to 768kb/s down and switch to DSL. I don't like that idea.

It maybe cheaper in the long run if you switch now and pay the early termination fee. This is depending of course on how many months you have left. Sprint's Early Termination fee varies between $150 to $250. If you are spending $70 to $100 a month for you service and you have a year or more left, then it may pay for you to switch.
But all major carriers suck in some way or another. They all will screw you if they can. I had Nextel for years but I noticed ever since they Sprint/Nextel agreed to sell their IDEN Network to the US Military, I have noticed that the signal to my Nextel phone was slowly but surely being degraded little by little. Almost to the point where I couldn't get a strong signal in places where I had no problems with before.
Isn't technology grand?????

Mark

Don't blame the technology for the incompetent people who are just in it for the money. I have actually discovered a relational graph (that is true 80-90% of the time) that the amount of money you make is inversely proportionally to your intelligence.
@timeshifter
Buy your own linksys router and burn theirs.
I wonder how many people actually get shafted by comcast's joke of a "home networking plan" that they will charge you extra monthly based on the number of computers you connect to the router device.

I'm moving out of this house soon... and the guy I'm moving in with already has a dedicated modem and a separate router. Have I mentioned I hate Comcast?

I am not blaming the technology, I am blaming Sprint/Nextel for purposely degrading the signal so that people would switch from Nextel IDEN phone to Sprint/Nextel phone that uses the Sprint Network. I have taken my business to another provider just because of this reason.
