UK petrol shortage ? Grangemouth refinery strike.
Fuel Crisis Fear As Scotland's Only Oil Refinery Is Closed.
This will no doubt result in hordes of kilted highlanders brandishing claymores and lochaber axes pillaging our English petrol stations.
You won't even be safe in Portsmouth.
It's time to top-up the tank before they get here.

That would be scarier had the French won a single war they were ever in.

They defeated nearly all the furry creatures in Canada, didn't they? Don't make light of small victories.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

Clearly you're unfamilar with the 1685 Beaver Rebellion where Quebec City was burned to the ground.
(VB/C#) is clearly superior to (C#/VB) because it (has/doesn't have) <insert trivial difference here>.

Fool, I know that isn't true. Canada wasn't even discovered until 1701.
What's your response to that, smart guy?

The English came in and built a society on the ashes of the French defeat.
Unlike the French, my ancestors had enough sense to shoot the beavers before putting them on our heads to make those funny little hats. That made for a marked reduction in the number of colonists who had their heads chewed open by beavers.

Any reply I attempt to give would surely expose my complete ignorance of the history of America's Hat.

The history of America IS the history of America's hats. There's no event in North American history that cannot be effectively summarized by an analysis of local hat styles at the time it happened.
However, the modern liberal elites who run the history departments have a distinct anti-hat bias and they always gloss over this.

I've felt the same as you, but I should have told my history teacher about this, I'm sure it would bowler over.
