    Question Hand-Over Document

    Good Morning All

My Current job, is my first programming job, since i Graduated in 2004. i have been in my current job for 1 year, and i have done well for my employer and things are good mood. Today, i was asked to change an Office, well better than my current office, to another office and i was told i was going to be involved in the new Big Projects and need me closer.but what i was doing, i will still do, meaning that i was developing for one Department in the Company as a Stand alone Developer, but now i will be Developing for the whole Companies Departments. Now i was asked to write a hand-over Document to , but there won't be anyone doing my job, that means there will be additional work for and in different location. Can anyone tell me where to start writting the Document, what is it that is supposed to be in the Document.

    Thanks

    Re: Hand-Over Document

The requirements for a hand over document differ from company to company. In fact, they may differ from department within a company to department within a company.

I've had to prepare hand over documents on several occasions, and the requirements for this task were always different depending on who was running the department and/or who I was preparing the document for.

You need to ask the person requiring you to prepare it just what information they want to see.

Split your knowledge into what you would regard as sections. Overview, structure, details, environments and so on. Imagine yourself to be the developer who's going to be reading it some day. Be clear, go into a lot of detail if you have to.
