I don't know where to put this but it is helpful information about the VB6 IDE for someone who may be having a similar unexplained problem. I just recently re-installed my whole laptop from OS to every program and VB6 (SP6) always crashed on exit. I did not have to do anything in VB but open the IDE and close it, and it crashed. I did some sleuthing and checked my ADD-IN's and to my surprise the Source Control Add-in was loaded and running. I removed that and VB stopped crashing.

If VB is crashing check your ADD-IN's. Deactivate all Add-In's and add them back in one at time, you may be surprised at what crashed it.
