Like most (if not all) dying US cities, mine (Cleveland) has been run by a deeply-entrenched liberal political machine for as long as anyone can remember. Yet as the city circles the drain, my idiot neighbors keep voting for the exact same extreme left-wing liberal politicians every time.

The very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. Therefore I have no choice but to agree that modern liberalism is a mental illness.

What about Seattle / Washington State? A very liberal area, yet they make quit a bit of cash.

I think the causes of economic issues are more complicated ... like the fact that manufacturing has been almost completely been shipped over seas. And in that respect, Republicans / Conservatives are less protectionalists then their liberal counterparts.

Show me one example - one - of a dying city that is run by a so-called "conservative political machine."

Hard as this may be for some to believe, Seattle's desirability has absolutely nothing to do with it's liberal government or the political leanings of it's citizens.

I think the causes of economic issues are more complicated ... like the fact that manufacturing has been almost completely been shipped over seas.

Largely due to ever-increasing union wages with no corresponding increase in productivity, draconian environmental laws that adds greatly to the cost of industrial production or makes it impossible altogether, an appallingly hostile business environment (particularly harsh here in Cleveland), and of course, confiscatory tax rates and required gov't kickbacks just for the privilege of doing business under a liberal political machine.

Yet all I hear is people like you blaming the plight of my city on non-existent uncaring conservatives. Since I'm pretty much the only one left here I guess that means me?

The definition of liberal/conservative as been somewhat distorted in modern America. In a nutshell liberals think America is great because of it's government while conservatives believe America is great despite it's government.
