Remove firewall?
At my house the setup is: Internet☺ modem ☺ firewall ☺ router ☺ computer. The problem is I want to get rid of the external firewall. It is a netgear Prosafe VPN firewall. And I Have a wrt54gs router. When i try to connect the modem directly to my router the internet no longer works. I I ahve tried repairing the connection, disableing it, and using comcast desktop doctor (comcast is my isp). None of these fix the problem. Any one ahve any ideas as to what could be causing this. Also connecting my computer directly to the modem does not work either.

You have to unplug the power from the modem and plug it back in. It keeps track of all devices plugged in. And you probably only have 1 IP address, thus only 1 device can be used. A power cycle purges the information regarding what devices have been plugged in.
Or you can clone the MAC address of the netgear firewall. I think the 1st will be easier.

Thanks for the fast reply. I tried power cycling and that had no effect. I tried clong my mac address using the router. By just clicking enable mac cloning and then getting the mac address, however, that also did not work.

Re: Remove firewall?
Hmm...
It should work.
Here is a few troubleshooting tips:
Are all the lights solid on the modem? (1 or 2 may not be, but usually it goes from top to bottom left to right of importance. The last is usually activity.)
Did you power cycle the router also? You may have to do a power cycle in this order: modem off, router off, modem on, router on.
Is the ethernet cable secure?
Have you tried calling your ISP for assistance? I believe comcast has a web based chat room. You can try that for quick response.
Also, you wont clone YOUR mac address, you want to clone the MAC of the firewall device. Just clicking "enable mac cloning" probably wont do it.

Re: Remove firewall?
Thx for the reply. Power cycling in the order you provided seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks again.
