Sure, it is fast, and quiet, but, you still have to plug it in!

If you plug it in you aren't getting "miles per gallon." It may even be an inefficient hack for all we know. The question is how many miles does it get per gallon when the consumed electricity is expressed in gallons of gas needed to generate and transport it over the grid.
Could be 5 miles per gallon.

Yea, well except how do you express kilowatt/hr consumption as miles per gallon of gasoline?
Let's say the electricity is being generated from a nuclear plant.
