How many people here use VB at school, where the class is on a network? I wanted to know if anyone wants a program I made that does a bunch of stuff to the other computers like make the CD-ROM open remotly. It's funny when you put it on someone's computer and control it. The screensaver pops up, then the cd-rom opens. It's funny to watch them freak out. Private message me if u want the prog, with source of course.

He he he. I used to do stuff like that. I started programming ages ago. I'm 16 now, and I'm banned from the school computer rooms for doing stuff like that. I was also banned by cracking the administrator password and taking away all restrictions, but that's another story.

Yeah, but after I got rid of the user rights, everyone knew, so they started deleting keys out of the registry and fiddling around with control panels etc...

Hey! That's really funny, cause I do the same thing too. I gave all my friends full access, but my teacher hasn't noticed yet. hehe. He was the idiot that showed me how to do the Policy Editor. He didn't do it on purpose, but he didn't tell me to look away, so I saw. Then he was typing his username and password, but he forgot to press tab, so I saw his password after his name. It's fun to screw with him, but I'll tell him about everything at the end of the year. I just don't want to get in trouble until the last few days of school.

What I hate the most is when people use their username as their password. Which was almost the case with the administrator password. It was administrater (with an e). They sure are stupid because I also cracked the library book lookup computer's search program's exit PIN. It just happened to be "12345678". They must have thought pupils would think that the teachers were too smart for them to use such a simple PIN.

My school is pretty crappy. I'm also banned from many classrooms and expecially the rec centre at lunch time. Tell you later if you really want to know.

We used to mess with my boss at work a lot. I wrote a program in VB that ran as a background task on his system. The program's title and icon were setup to look like Microsoft's Fast Find utility, so it wasn't apparent in the task manager or startup.

The program checked the public directory of our network for a specific text file every 15 seconds. If it found it, it would open it and run instructions based on text messages in the file.

We could build a text file to create Message Boxes with any message we wanted by saving a text file with the appropriate key words and text to that public directory.

The funny part was that the network was supposed to be secure, so he couldn't figure out how we could post message boxes to his computer from remote.

The program even had a second upgrade program that could be activated through the text file. You could launch the upgrade program from remote to keep control of his system, while the main program shut down. You could then replace the executable of the main program with an upgraded version, and post a text file to tell the upgrade program to start up the main app, and then close itself down.

We thought of all kinds of funny things to torment him with, like intercepting and replacing keystrokes with API calls, making whatever window that had focus slowly shrink, or simulating a "sticky mouse ball".

Oh, well.... The good old days !!!

    We drove him nuts !!!
