[2005] General question on pocket pc

Its been a while since i wrote a program which used tcpclient to connect a pocket pc to my pc with wifi and everything worked great but now i have revisisted the program but with a different pocket pc but i have it sat in its cradle connected by usb but i cant get them to connect

My question is, can you connect with each other through the usb with tcpclient or does it have to be wifi or some other connection ?

the error i get is "Unable to read data from the transport connection".

So, nothing as changed in the code or pc just the pocket pc and the fact it doesnt have wifi

    Thank you.

If you are connecting to a desktop, then this is possible. Search the mobile forum on TCPClient and my user name, and you'll find a thread where I posted a class that connects to a desktop via TCP using the cradle.

Does the PPC itself have a password? We've discovered that the PPC password gets in the way of us connecting via the app itself (although this is a DB connection - not TCPIP)

No password, maybe i should have given all the info about the ppc, its an ipaq h3800 which wouldnt work at all with 2005, i got an error saying the device needed updating (its a 2002 version), i updated the rom last night which did it fine. It does load to the ppc now when running in the ide but like i say, i get the error.

Shaggy Hiker, i cant seem to find it.

If anybody has got the simplest of desktop server, ppc client example they know works i could try, i would be very gratefull.

    Thank you.

Shaggy Hiker, Thank you for pointing it out for me, i must be going blind.

In between my last post and now i created a server and client(ppc) with the code i have and again it didnt work so i then created the client as a desktop application with the exact same code and it worked, so would you agree that it has to be something to do with the connection of usb only, also if i use the emulator it doesnt work but to be honest i wouldnt know if it should anyway because i havnt used the emulator before.

    Thank you.

This could turn out to be a side question but when you updated the rom, did it turned to WM 2005? I had a similar problem (a HTC model) and had to install the 2005 compact framework onto the device. It would be amazing if a rom has enough space to host different frameworks.
