    Resolved [RESOLVED] access denied for user...

    hi,
    i have the error : ACCESS DENIED FOR USER 'myname'@'%'(using password: YES) while trying to execute a select into outfile query to mysql from vb.

    but when i execute another select and even update query using the same connection string, IT WORKS!

    so what could be the problem?

    You many not have permissions on a particular table that is in the one query but not the other.

    Re: access denied for user...

    could be,but i have 3 querys,all for the mysql table "table_one" :

    select id from table_one -> works fine
    update table_one set ..... -> works fine
    select ... into outfile -> gives error.

    they use the connection string :

    Dim myConnString11 As String = "server=192.168.0.20" _
    & ";" & "user id=mihai" & _
    ";" & "password=mihai" & _
    ";" & "database=table_one"

    Dim conn11 As New MySqlConnection
    Dim myCommand11 As New MySqlCommand
    conn11.ConnectionString = myConnString11

    myCommand11.Connection = conn11
    myCommand11.CommandText = "SELECT ............."

    Try

    conn11.Open()
    myCommand11.ExecuteNonQuery()

    Catch myerror As MySqlException
    MsgBox("There was an error updating the database: " & myerror.Message)

    End Try

    Re: access denied for user...

    done it.
    i created a new user with the query

    Code:
    GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * . * TO 'sorin'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '*****' WITH GRANT OPTION MAX_QUERIES_PER_HOUR 0 MAX_CONNECTIONS_PER_HOUR 0 MAX_UPDATES_PER_HOUR 0 ;
    , i modified the vb script and everything is alright now.

    thank you.
